How has pageantry affected your life? Never did I think I would go from the shy girl in the classroom to representing my state with 25 other talented contenders. I have gained so much confidence and have learned so much about myself. People do not realize the guts it takes just to get up on that stage. It takes something extra inside yourself, it is that inner confidence that only the contestant can bring out themselves. And this inner confidence I never would have had if was not for this program.
What is something people would be surprised to know about you? I think people would be surprised to know that my favorite board game to play is chess. When I was in school I was the only girl in the chess club and I used to attend chess tournaments almost every weekend. With my outgoing personality and constant need to stay busy, I think people would find it interesting to know that I enjoy sitting and playing a competitive game for a few hours at a time. My proudest accomplishment with the game is beating computer several times.
Are you an early-bird or a night-owl? Typically I am more of a night-owl. I like to stay up and watch one my favorite late night talk shows “Chelsea Lately.” I can wake up early when I have to, but generally I like to burn the midnight oil and then get my 8 hours of sleep.
What is your greatest achievement? I have been very fortunate to have had many accomplishments throughout my lifetime. However, recently I have received some very exciting news that will definitely be up there on my list of achievements. In August at the 2010 annual Emmy Awards I will be a red carpet reporter. I was selected by my school, Emerson College because of all my hard work and dedication with my extracurricular activities. Emerson College is the only school that is allowed to be on the Red Carpet amongst the other entertainment networks. Let’s hope that I can give Ryan Seacrest a run for his money.
