How has pageantry affected your life? My life has turned upside down in a most positive way with my participation in the Miss New Hampshire Scholarship Program. Through this program I have made wonderful new friendships with other participants and with the major support group of volunteers that represent our state program. The many connections I have made through personal appearances have helped to strengthen my interpersonal relationships and to sharpen my interview skills. This program has also showed me how much of an impact I can have on my community through involvement in my platform and inspiring others as a role model.

What has been the most fun, craziest, or most unique job you have ever had? I once worked for a promotional company that set me up with Children’s Hospital in Boston for their Generation Cures Tour. The purpose of this tour was to help teach children about infectious diseases. I was told by the company that I would travel around the Boston area from zoos to aquariums educating children through a cartoon computer game. What I didn’t know, until I arrived at the first site, was that I was to attract children to the booth by walking around with a television playing the cartoon on my belly! I would actually walk around Boston with a Zebra Pattern TV weighing about 20 pounds hanging from my shoulders. Seeing the children so excited by this presentation made having sore shoulders for the next few days completely worth it.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years? In 10 years I will have completed graduate school and will be working as a Physician Assistant. I hope to specialize in either orthopedics or cardio-thoracics. I, of course, see myself being happy and healthy and maybe even by then I will have started a family! While I think it is important to have plans and goals for the future I also think that being spontaneous and partially unstructured is the key to avoid having a one track mind and loosing sight of what is important, the journey. I often feel that if you plan too much, you may miss out on a better or more exciting opportunity.

What is your major in college/ what interests you most in school? I am a Kinesiology: Exercise Science major. Learning about the human body really interests me because of the importance of what I learn about. I am involved in a cardiac rehabilitation program where I am an early riser at 5:30 a.m. so I can assist patients with exercises to improve heart health. In another one of my courses we act as personal trainers to university employees, helping with resistance training and body image. In this major I also get a taste of exercise biochemistry and metabolic systems. All of these areas combined have helped me see the importance of a healthy and active life style and have set me up for success as I begin to apply to graduate school.
